North Country Food Alliance is a non-profit organization based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. We act to increase access to food and to share food with people in need. We accomplish this through weekly foodshares, wild food foraging workshops, community gardening, and community meals.
North Country Food Alliance is a democratically worker-run organization and Industrial Workers of the World (IWW) union shop. We are committed to economic & environmental justice, workplace democracy, and confronting oppression. This means we work toward sustainability and equality within the structure of our organization as well as throughout society.
North Country Food Alliance is a newly-formed organization, founded by people with decades experience in the non-profit field. We came together to address the inconsistencies in the non-profit model, which far too often sacrifices the well-being of its workers to serve its mission, essentially exploiting one community to serve another. Our model is based on the belief that in order for a non-profit to justly serve its community, it must first treat its workers with dignity and respect.
